Admission Arrangements

Walton Hall Academy is a special secondary academy for students aged from 11 to 19 years.

Our students have a wide and varied range of learning needs. All students who attend our academy must have an Educational Health Care plan (EHCP).

Walton Hall Academy is located in a rural environment on the outskirts of Eccleshall, Staffordshire. We have extensive grounds providing a wide range of vocational opportunities for our students including a working farm, a motor vehicle workshop, forest school and horticultural areas . Walton Hall Academy serves families from Staffordshire, Shropshire, Stoke-on-Trent and Cheshire East.  Walton Hall Academy is a special provision for meeting the needs of students for whom a mainstream school would not be suitable.

Our Planned Places number is agreed annually with the Local Authority. This can vary slightly year on year depending on our capacity to meet the needs of our complex population.  We can sometimes consider requests for places from the Local Authority throughout the year if a place becomes available. We are often planning the school admissions a year ahead.

If you think Walton Hall Academy may be the school that could meet the needs of your child, you can contact us for an initial informal discussion. The school contact number is 01785 850420 or you can contact the school by email office.wh@walton.set.org.

We cannot admit any child without following the formal consultation process. This involves communication with your child's SEND keyworker at the Local Authority, or through an EHC annual review at your child's current school in the first instance.  The Local Authority SEND team and the current school would be able to discuss all schools that may be able to meet the needs of your child. Once you have confirmed your preference, the Local Authority would then send out formal consultation papers to us for review and to decide whether we are able to meet your child's special educational needs and offer a place.

Please check our admissions policy under the Policies section on the Academy Key Information page for further information.
